In celebration of National Get Outdoors Day and World Ocean Day, renowned marine environmental artist Wyland, the U.S. Forest Service, and NOAA will launch a nationwide campaign that uses art and science to teach young people about our forests and ocean — and how these two irreplaceable resources hold the key to the future of our water supplies, climate, and global health.
The kickoff event will be held at The People’s Garden on the National Mall (Washington, DC) on June 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. EDT. It will feature students from the DC area and Wyland painting a series of murals exploring watersheds from the forests to the sea and issues of climate change.
