The ceremony, officiated by NOAA Director of Workforce Management Eddie Ribas, recognized nearly 75 employees for their outstanding contributions to the agency. It was also the first time that NOAA Administrator Dr. Jane Lubchenco bestowed the awards.
“You make us proud,” said Dr. Lubchenco in her address to the winners. “Whether you are the public face of NOAA … or team leaders whose efforts enable major accomplishments … or scientists or analysts developing new knowledge … we truly appreciate your remarkable efforts.”
Fifty-eight employees were selected for the Administrator’s Award in recognition of significant contributions to NOAA programs relating to: equal employment opportunity, diversity, scientific research, public service, engineering development, environmental conservation, policy development, administrative support, public affairs and information systems.
The under secretary also gave Technology Transfer Awards to four individuals who developed innovative technology that was adopted for use by industry/business, universities, state or local governments and/or other non-federal parties.
In addition, the 12 most recent employee and team members of the month were honored for their contributions to NOAA. One Employee and one Team Member are chosen each month.
