Meet April 2009 Employee and Team Member of the Month
Bruce Plott
NESDIS
Employee of the Month
April, 2009
Faced with extremely tight timelines, financial budgets, and other constraints, Bruce Plott managed a very difficult year of performing certification and accreditation of six major ground systems. He quickly found the resources from both contractor and government personnel and led efforts by meeting daily with his small group of IT security officers. He saw what it would take to fuse together the team to succeed. He quickly went about performing an audit of the systems, developed two teams to review and provide edits and modifications to many of the products necessary for the accreditation to occur on time. This allowed NESDIS to meet deadlines and provide the
highest quality certification and accreditation package to the CIO’s office. His knowledge of the systems allowed him to make daily key leadership decisions affecting
the positive outcome of the process.

Team Member of the Month
April, 2009
Todd Pearce has been working with the Climate Program Office from his position in the OAR division responsible for IT services for more than three years. During this time, Todd has been extraordinarily dedicated and persistent in tackling the diverse IT needs required by the office. When CPO developed its Web site in 2006, Todd took the lead and spent many hours developing and maintaining this effort. While his efforts have always been vital to our office, his work during the month of September 2008 was especially critical. During the update of all CPO computers to a new operating system, it was Todd’s attentiveness and hard work that enabled the office to do this with minimal disruption to daily operations. Not only did he schedule the updates to be convenient to each individual user, he and his colleagues remained on the office floor for over a week to fix each issue that came up as a result of the update.
